Dianer Yu

My name is Dianer Yu, a Data Science Ph.D. candidate in the DSMI Lab and an Academic Tutor at the School of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), under the supervision of Chair Prof. Guandong Xu and Dr. Qian Li. Before that, I received MSc and BSc degrees in Computer Science from UTS.

My general research interests lie primarily in artificial intelligence, data science, data mining, causal inference, recommendation systems and explainable machine learning. Proficient in programming languages such as SQL, Java, R, and Python, enabling me to develop effective solutions to complex research problems. My papers have been published in multiple top-tier conferences and journals in the field of data science, such as TKDE, WWW, SIGIR, CIKM, Neurocomputing, PAKDD, DASFAA et al.

I am actively seeking a position in academia where I can contribute my research expertise, teaching skills, and programming proficiency.

    Academic Tutor at University of Technology Sydney (1/2022 - current)
  • Providing AI-related lectures and tutorials to postgraduate and undergraduate students, such as 41004 (AI/Analytics capstone project), 42046 (Data Processing using R) and 48024 (Programming 2 Java&Python).
  • Organizing capstone projects for more than 200 students and providing supervision for multiple groups of students.
  • Designed and developed a new subject about React front-end framework, guiding students to learn the React through a hands-on project-based approach.
  • Marking all the assignments and resolving the daily questions for students.
  • Offering continuous support through Q\&A sessions, assessments, and prompt resolution of students' daily inquiries, fostering a conducive learning environment.
